This Week in the Copier Industry 5 Years Ago (First Week of August 2014)

What an amazing week!

We closed our month 7 business days ago and all of those orders that didn't close for July have closed this week.  Seems I'm HOT!

Similar to a baseball hitter that's in a hot streak, in sales it seems that almost everything you touch pans out. One of the things I've learned is that when you're hot you don't slow down. You don't take the attitude of "well I just had a great week and I'll relax next week, because I'm so far out in front".  Wrong Batman, since you're HOT now is the time to continue the streak, continue prospecting and to set those appointments.  Every time that baseball player gets an AB it's an opportunity to get another hit.  When sales people get hot they need to continue the same efforts that got them HOT!  #neverstopprospecting

Great Article! Of course I am a bit biased... I'm not sure if the reader who commented is familiar with the standard rules available in Print Audit 6/PCS Director. They exist under the Printer Profiles section and can be implemented across the board with a click of the mouse. These basic rules address color usage, duplex print as well as limits on pages of print. By definition the basic rules apply across to board to all printing (subject to that Printer Profile). These rules are also MUCH

Your dealership is shooting itself in the ass, as is mine and most others who do not pay monthly recurring revenue commissions. It doesn't matter whether it comes from a traditional service agreement, an MPS (does just mean printers) agreement or Managed IT Services agreement. It should all be paid a residual. That aligns how our clients pay us, what ownership says their focus is and how we are compensated. A lot of owners are afraid that reps will grow recurring commissions to the point where

I'm fighting the same battle, we even filled out something for Ricoh, App for change in firmware) and they came back and stated there were not enough machines for them to warrant the change for the check/security feature. Boy are those Japanese dumb! There are thousands of one-ups in the field that have this issue and just because there is not one account with 100 plus units, they will not pursue a firmware upgrade. That's bad business. I did hear that there will be a change on some of the new

Hardware and IT Block time counts, so what's a salesperson suppose to do? I'm finding it hard to balance both and close deals for both.

Re: 5 Reasons Why Cold Calling is NOT Dead

Art, great article. I was listening to a podcast the other day and they were alluding to the fact that cold calling is dead and social media marketing has replaced it. While I believe both are necessary, there still doesn't seem to be any substitute for face to face contact. You get so much more information! AsFrank Betcher puts it in hisbook "How I Raised Myself From Failure To Success In Selling", if you"act" enthusiastic you will become enthusiastic.

Got the Bluebeam issue resolved with Plotworks. New question! Does anyone know why I cannot get the Webprint tool to come up when I enter the ip address/webprint? I have called Ricoh and they said to make sure the Tiff/GL Filter card is installed in the machine, which it is, and then it should work. Doesn't work. Any ideas???? Haven't had this many questions about a wide format in years. Thanks, J.
