Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

timw ·
When connecting an MFP to say DropBox, the MFP still doesn't allow for an end-user to view that DropBox's folder tree (without added software), correct? So essentially the customer scans to DropBox, heads back to their computer, and then searches around the DropBox folder until they find their scanned file - which isn't much different than the issue the end-user described in the first place? Am I correct in this? I've been looking around for a solution that can help with this that won't...

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

Iris ·
Hello TimW, Thank you for that question. I think it is very relevant, especially as we do have the browse feature for SharePoint. For cloud services such as Dropbox, Micorosoft OneDrive and Google Drive, Udocx enables users to scan directly to any pre-define folder. This means users can scan to several specific destinations within Dropbox. For example, if you want to scan to the 'orders' folder within Dropbox regularly, you can make a 'scan to orders' App. This App will be available to you...

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

timw ·
Hi Iris, Thank you for the response! This helps, but the folders still need to be pre-defined, which would be the same thing as setting up a shared folder, no? And the MFP can do that natively. So out of the box, the installing technician could conceivably set up "Scan to Dropbox -Orders," "Scan to Drop-Box - Leads," "Scan to Drop-Box - Accounts Receivable" since no software is needed for this. Or am I incorrect? It sounds like the major plus to Udocx would be the ability to view the folder...

Re: Connect the MFPs you sell to any folder

Iris ·
Hi Timw, I would definitely recommend setting up multiple shared folders! I know this will save your customers a lot of time and really add value to the service you provide. Especially when every end-user gets direct access to the folders he or she uses most. Having this kind of conversation with your prospects is sure to give you insight into what is important to them and which solution will suit their needs best. You'll be surprised how many prospects aren't sure what the MFPs will be used...

I heard that the difference between the 340 and 360 is something like a chip or firmware update that needs to be purchased from OCE. Thus you are buying a 4 page per system and the chip or firmware increases the speed to 6ppm. Is this correct>

Art, What makes eCopy so powerful is its large connector catalog (250+). The problem has been poor support. BUT, eCopy has recently hired 4 key people from EFI \ Fiery. I am having dinner with Lenny Bono (formally of EFI) and Lynda Maglio (originally eCopy now Nuance Dealer rep) this week to see if Nuance is ready to make the changes necessary that Dealers have been demanding. I am encouraged that Nuance has brought on 4 key "copier guys" from EFI to try to make right what the Nuance (Drop...

Re: How Can a Scanning Workflow be Created on a Copier?

Art Post ·
FYI: Most IT managers don’t like scanned documents sent using email or saved in Exchange. Exchange is not a document management systems. Attaching, replicating and storing large files can cause issues. Preferred method is to scan to folder or directly to the DM solution if that is an option.

If the software really only allows for one sided printing your only option I know of would be to force duplexing at the printer level or do a print to file or print to PDF then print the PDF duplexed and stapled.

Art, I know on many models you can set the PCL defaults (EX: Two Sided & Duplex). These will be ignored when you print form a PCL Driver because the Driver will over ride the defaults. But if they print from a host system the MFD PCL defaults will be used. The other thing you can propose,(Most Host Admins will hate the idea) is set up a Windows Print Driver on a Windows Server. make sure LPD is running and set the Printing Preferences (I also set the Printing Defaults) to DX & Staple...

We had a ricoh rep come in a while back and tell our team that boxes were going away and if they didn't get on board with solutions/MNS/MPS/Services etc they would be left behind. I believe the solutions will play a major part in the future, but I don't think the box is going anywhere. I think we're all going to have to get really good at selling software that solves our clients' business & workflow problems. If we don't someone else will, whether from inside of our industry or outside of it. Smart dealers are going to have to realize that more of their revenue has to come from services, software & anything that can generate recurring monthly revenue. This will likely mean losing revenue at some point, because hardware sales revenue will decrease, & it takes a...

Just look at all the major MFR's, the "down the street business" is going to dealers and global/healthcare/legal/govt are all going direct. The dealers can't handle those accounts nor do they have the expertise to implement the software solutions that are standard in those type of accounts from Cleveland to Miami to LA to NY where direct does. So local accounts = dealer larger accounts that are all over = MFR vertical teams
