KIP Star Print 3000

GUEST ·
The KIP 3000 is the eagerly awaited low end blockbuster from the boys from Novi (as in Michigan home office.) It is targeted directly at the Ricoh FW 240 (in all of its Laniar, Gastetner, Savin iterations) and the Oce? TDS 300. While the 3000 comes in six different configurations it only has one flavor. The beauty of this machine is that whether you order it as a bottom of the line; one roll copier or the top of the line, two roll system with copier, plot and scan to file feature enabled, you

Xerox 6030-6050

GUEST ·
This machine is so bad that most of the Xerox dealers in the country have elected not to sell it. The system was designed by Fuji Xerox as a six copy and nine copy per minute solution. It simply does not meet American standards. At its best, which is not good, the machine functions as a wide format copier. It will make multiple copies and reduce and enlarge but the steps required to produce a copy are clumsy and not at all intuitive. In its plotter mode, the machine is at best adequate. The

Xerox goes all Fuji

GUEST ·
Xerox goes all Fuji The word is that ?Mother X? in her infinite wisdom has decided to become an all Fuji shop. Hopefully this means that we will not have more debacles like the 6030 ? 6050 to look forward to. Our understanding is that the contract with KIP on the KIP 8000 print engine used as the printer component for the Xerox 721 is up at the end of the year and Xerox has elected to decline renewal. In doing so they lose their option on the KIP 3000. This is probably a good deal for KIP. The

KIP Announces the KIP Starprint 3000

This is a one or two roll system that can be configured as an engineering copier, a plotter or a multifunction system with scan to print, sets processing, multiple copy, reduction and enlargement, scan to file and plot. Duty cycle appears to be about 5,000 square feet per month and the retail selling price runs from $13,995 for the one roll copier version to $18,995 for the two roll copier, printer scan to file system. The software on this beauty is a wonder to behold. Congratulations KIP, you

Attached is a customized ppd that needs to be loaded in addition to the current one. It will allow Mac users to send to the Document server (assuming they are on OSX). There are some limitations with this PPD, the filename must be input when installing the PPD, thus all files sent to the Document Server will have the same name ... if they are kept at the copier, then the user will have to change the name of the file at the copier. As far as the jamming I’m not sure what to tell you. We have a

MacIntosh OS 10.4

 ·
Does anyone have a customer that uses MacIntosh Operating System 10.4 that can print with the newest version of the Postscript driver? My customer wants actual proof that the driver will work on 10.4. Ricoh has told him that it will work with version 10.X, but you know some people want proof that it will work with a specific version. Any help? Please email to roof@abconceptsinc.com Thanks in advance.

Ted, How many lines are handling this volume? Your cost of operation would be very high on the 5510's. You might consider a bank of 1515F's to handle the job. The 2035,2045 wouldnt really help with the volume other than cost of operation, of which the acquisition cost would probably offset a lot of the savings. Just my two cents. Good Luck.

the 2045SP and he keeps it for another 31 months, then I am going to propose an AP900 printer with a Zetafax fax server software solution. We will install a new server that will serve as the fax server ($600) w/Zetafax software, cost for 5 users $695 less 30%, Zeta fax dual modem card $550 less 30%. Zetafax will do things: (A). It will archieve all incoming faxes on the fax server (think of it, no more lost faxes), then we can route all incoming faxes to print to the AP900. Thus I am removing

Re: New Ricoh Aficio 3025/3030

Just got pricing for the new 3025/3030 and the 3035/3045. On average the pricing appears to be slightly lower but niot enough to matter much. I was surprised to learn that with the 3025/3030 series, there is P and S/P versions so we are back to having to replace the Print DIMM with a Print/Scan DIMM to upgrade. We also now have SPi versions that come from the factory with DocumentMall and 500MB of storage for 3 years.

Re: Service Rate on Aficio 2090/Savin 4090

GUEST ·
If your VP of Op's is saying no, these may be the reasons. 1.) Your company is using Ricoh OEM parts and replacing parts when they should be replaced. 2.) Your management is not in tune with the industry and they have to understand that clicks drive profits. Your competitor maybe using generic parts, not replacing parts when scheduled an probably ignoring minor parts replacement and repair and suppling poor service response times. Who is BEI? Whe have a contract out there at .0047 with 2090'd

BEI is actually BEI Services which stands for Business Equipment Information Services. They can provide benchmarks for any copier ever made. They can give you a complete analysis of your machine performance, parts usage, CPC vs other dealers servicing the same products. If you want to know if your "Mean Copies Between Failures" for the Aficio 2090 is worse than average of all 2090's nationwide, they can tell you. If you want to know if your cost of parts/year for the 2090 is in line with other

What would you recommend?

I have a customer whose inbound fax volume has increased to 1,300 pages per day, 7 days/week for a total of 39,000 pages per month. What is the MMV on the Fax5510? Or what would you recommend? I am putting a 2060SP in the same area to handle the 60K/mo. copy/print volume. I feel stupid proposing a 2035e/2045e with fax option just for faxes. But if that is what I need to do, I will. Let me know what y'all think. Ted
