I'll admit, maybe I couldn't see the ocean through the fog when I pummeled the new Ricoh W2470 printer over Ricohs pricing.

In four recent appointments for wide format, I was asked about color scanning on three occasions. This got me thinking, I don't have an all in one box for wide format color scanning, mono printing and copying. However, not many of my competitors have these either. The OCE TDS 450 combines a scanner and printer along with the Xerox 510DP. I then asked myself why can't I make my own configuration (just what my techs wanted to hear). Heck, I have the relationship with Paradigm Imaging http://www.scantopia.com/ , maybe I should give Eric Hansen a call.

KIP does have the Touch Screen and the ability to copy color original, not plot a file to a Wide Format Ink Jet. With the RATIO Touch Screen Interface & Plotbase|PM, you have many more features:
- Use virtually any WF color Scanner
- Add many more WF Ink Jets, LED's and/or small format printers to the configuration
- Complete accounting / Invoice generating application (not just a spreadsheet as KIP offers)
- Regular Windows PC is much faster for scanning and plotting (especially large color images)than an embedded controller
- 'Stuck' jobs / rebooting the embedded controller is eliminated
- DWG batch plotting by drag & drop
- Easily upgradeable / switchable as hardware changes later on
- Easy user & admin interface with all the powertools available as desired
