Intially they were talking about Kyocera laying off corp tech reps and then I read this post:

If they would just pull their heads out....
You know the rest.

Sales wouldn't be down if product and pricing were competitive.

While we have the crippled Falcon III's and the expensive Voyager's (with toner only yielding half of what it's rated) I'm coming up against 40/45 ppm Savin's that are selling for less than I can buy a 3232, with better quality and specs - not to mention lower operating cost.

Came up against one today for $9800 with LCF and Staple Finisher - $.01/bw $.05/color!

I also really enjoyed the "Look on the bright side" letter about Ikon. I'm really supposed to believe that I will benefit from improved R&D because Ikon's paying for it???

I have been faithful to Kyocera since we signed on in 1999 because the products performed consistently and the machines (for the most part) did what the specifications said they would (except for color - none of the KM built have EVER worked).

Here's another

Has anyone checked to see what kind of yields you are really getting on the Voyager series?
I had a customer go through 4 black toners in one week - they thought something might be wrong.
I audited the machine and found they were only getting about 6500 prints per cartridge (should be 15K). We pulled toner coverage info and found Mono was at 4% and black in color mode was at 3.6%
According to my calculations - the Voyager series would have to have and 840g black cartridge (instead of 480g - could this be another typo - say like the 5016's 200K - oops, I mean 20K maintenance cycle?) to have a similar density to the Falcon series.
The Falcon density would not be suitable for color printing, so it is safe to say it would need to use even more toner than that - probably more like 960g to be able to provide 15K per cartridge (accounting for 5% vs 6% stated).

It would be physically impossible to fit that much toner in the space provided in the machine, but more importantly this indicates we are all being seriously overcharged by Kyocera for this toner. Perhaps they should repackage it with two cartridges per box for the same price - that would at least be a little more fair.

I have been afraid to look at color yields.
