I have a customer with tandem 700P's with one connected to an SR85 with Trimmer. Each 700P is running 65K/mo.
Here is the dilema...2075 doesn't have an optional bookletmaker (don't bring up the SR861 Saddle Stitch Finisher, it's not the same) and even if we could afford tandem 2090's, my service department won't let me put them in at that low a volume.
I tried a single 2105 to replace both 700P's but the customer won't give up the redundency of dual units and the advantages of dual copy/print.
My only other thought was used 700P's (the current equipment must go back to the lease company) but I don't think I could find an SR85 new or used.
Any ideas?

A question:

1. What is the name of the leasing company that holds the lease?

Why not negotitate a buy out price with the leasing company and re-lease them the same equipment for a short term solution? Let's say 12 or 24 months, this way you may be able to upgrade him again in 9 to 19 months with a system that will better meet his needs.

To add more value to the deal, have the systems come in your shop onbe at a time and have your tech s do a complete overhaul on each system.

I'll be you can re-lease him these systems ($1.00 buy-out), do the overhaul, have a tidy profit and still save the customer money on thier lease payment each and every month.

IE: re-sale cost of 700p's w/SR85 lets say was $50K, you can probably settle on a price of $7,500 or less for the lot. Put $1,500 in each system, put $5K GP on top. $15,500 is the new lease base, 24 month lease w/$1.00 out would be around $751 per month, also tell the customer that if he upgrades with you after 18 months you'll pick up the remainder on the lease!

Just my idea, hope it helps!

Thanks for the input. I had thought through all of that and may have to go that way. It's hard to exchange a $100,000 sale with a $20,000 sale. Marlin Leasing, so far, is wanting $28,000 for the equipment that I'm sure I can buy for less than $10,000 and 4 million fewer copies.

There is a Fiery driven 6513 in this mess also.

If I thought I could find a used SR85 I would just buy used everything and put it out for 24 months but I have my doubts about finding an SR85.
