Comtex News Network

Aug 23, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Electronics For Imaging, Inc., or EFI, a provider of color digital print controllers, industrial super-wide, wide format and label and packaging digital inkjet printers, has launched the M500 Self-Serve Copy and Print Station, a self-serve system that allows mobile printing from mobile phones, iPads, USB drives and cloud accounts like Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, and EFI PrintMe.

The M500 station accepts credit cards, campus cards, and cash cards at the device, eliminating the need for coin-operated machines. The system is also Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) validated to assist in Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance audits. The M500 station is available immediately through EFI resellers, and a video of how the system works can be seen online here.

"Students are more digital, more mobile, and keep more documents in the cloud," said John Henze, vice president of Fiery marketing at EFI. "Antiquated devices like coin-operated copiers are not meeting their printing needs and create cash management headaches for university staff. EFI's M500 station provides the easiest way for users to access, pay and print in a completely self-serve environment."

According to the company, the M500 station addresses student demands for printing from any mobile devices, as well as from popular cloud storage services. It features a large 10-inch color touch screen, provides secure encrypted communications, integrates with campus card and billing systems, and works with any PostScript printer or multi-function printer. The station supports 1D/2D barcode scanning for mobile devices and discount cards. A simple user interface with support for multiple languages speeds transactions.
