e-BRIDGE Print & Capture Mobile App Enables e-STUDIO Users to Print Wirelessly from iPhone, iPad and iPod touch Devices

To bolster productivity for today's ever-increasing BYOD - or bring your own device - audience of mobile Apple® users,Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. today unveils the iOS version of its e-BRIDGETM Print & Capture mobile software app.

The leading managed print services (MPS) provider and business printing solutions innovator's new mobile app enables iPhone® (starting with the iPhone 3GS), iPad® (supporting all versions available since March 2011) and iPod touch® (beginning with devices available on September 2010) users to wirelessly scan from and print to Toshiba's e-STUDIOTM multifunction products (MFPs). Users may also attach scanned files to email, share documents with other Apple applications or upload files to a cloud storage support service such as Box.com, Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive).

"Apple, AndroidTM and BlackBerry® are the majority of mobile OS devices in use today across business and consumer segments," said Dinesh Srirangpatna, Research Manager, Transformation at IDC. "Toshiba's mobile print portfolio, which already incorporates Android mobile print, is strengthened by adding support for Apple devices. This will be welcome in BYOD small business environments to assist productivity."

The free e-BRIDGE Print & Capture app supports most cloud-based data storage locations to upload information into the cloud and retrieve it from the mobile device or by printing the content on a Toshiba e-STUDIO.

The new software additionally allows users to find and locate all e-STUDIO MFPs residing on a network or identify a specific device by scanning a Quick Response (QR) code from their mobile Apple device. By recognizing user authentication and department codes, Toshiba's mobile app may also monitor and track print and scan use.

Toshiba's latest e-BRIDGE offering also integrates the company's Re-Rite optical character recognition software, which converts paper documents into an editable format then distributes those files to a user-preferred cloud storage portal. The app further permits users to scan documents to the latest Adobe® protocol including PDF/A (archive) and Slim PDF (high compression) as well as JPEG and TIFF formats.

To assist in lessening an organization's eco footprint, Toshiba's mobile print software incorporates the company's Toner Save mode and Omit Blank Page option.

"With the unveiling of the iOS version of our e-BRIDGE Print & Capture app, we now allow the increasing number of Apple mobile users in today's workforce to print wirelessly from virtually anywhere in the office," said Bill Melo, vice president of marketing, services and solutions at Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. "By coupling our latest iOS-compatible software with our existing support of Android smartphones and tablets, Toshiba now addresses the mobile printing needs for a vast number of employees bringing their mobile devices to the workplace."

e-BRIDGE Print & Capture is also compatible with all Android smartphone and tablet devices supporting version 2.3.3 (released in February 2011) or later. A download of Toshiba's iOS version of its e-BRIDGE Print & Capture mobile software is available on iTunes®http://bit.ly/1p3UpT8.
