Re: Things to Think About!

Shaja ·
So, I'm browsing through the new Readers Digest (okay, old fashioned yes, what can I say?!) this weekend, and lo and behold that very advice about the GPS and remote and the texting and the pin was in it. The story is called "How to Find Anything." This brings up a bigger rant, and if you'll bear with me a second.... I'm getting very tired of Internet foolishness getting passed along as actual truth by legitimate media who no longer bother to take the time to validate their stories. Whatever...

Montecore, I have spent many years in sales and began networking our systems almost 10 years ago. Currently, I handle all of our connectivity and solutions for our company and I have connected and troubleshot hundreds, maybe thousands of computers. I agree, a technician can and should be able to resolve this problem. However, first it is necessary to identify the problem. This requires ruling out what it is not. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. If I tell you this story, it seems simple.

Re: RBS Continues to Dump Machines & Make Dealers Look Bad!

Art Post (Guest) ·
I just looked it up: Predatory pricing (also known as destroyer pricing) is the practice of a firm selling a product at very low price with the intent of driving competitors out of the market, or create a barrier to entry into the market for potential new competitors. If the other firms cannot sustain equal or lower prices without losing money, they go out of business. The predatory pricer then has fewer competitors or even a monopoly, allowing it to raise prices above what the market would...

I quess it would be more in tune to why you should pay more for the Ricoh devices. It just seems everyone is caught up in price and not caring about support. I'm telling the Ricoh story and new accounts have been a bear. I guess a general overview of how these machines work with network scanning, and network faxing would be a great place to start, and what deficiencies Kyocera has related to network scanning and faxing. Re: 2238 Color Toner Yields

copier_doc (Guest) ·
G'Day all. You will get your yield based on the figures given by Ricoh. However it is important to understand the issues with coverage. Also bear in mind that coverage to useage are not proportional. A square block of colour on a page 100x100=1000, if you double the size of the square you quadruple the coverage 200x200=4000. Also dependant upon what you're printing will make a difference. 5% of text and 5% of graphics are different due to image processing and laying of toner and charge.

"Poking the bear" I realize that most of the users of this site are sales reps who make their living off of commissions. This means what I'm going to say might not go over well, but I don't mean any disrespect. I hope this comes across as what I meant it to be, a "devil's advocate" approach to the issue. I'm not espousing this view as much as trying to explain them. First and foremost, Sales Representatives provide a valuable service for the customer by exploring the needs of a company,...

Jason...actually I did run an 11 x 17 and it only jumped 1 click. I did a second one and it did the same...a third one, same result, 1 click. 17" x 3 should have resulted in 4 clicks from the start of the test. Need to do some more sampling to get what it's really telling us, although I don't really have much of a problem with my customers paying for linear feet off the Total Counter anyway, so it's not a high priority at this point. It is interesting to see what all is in there, though. Oh...

Personally, I would rather be upfront with the customer (in many cases I am), rather than "hiding the cheese". I will admit that there are many occasions where I do not address the escalating cost of the service agreement, if it is brought up, I will then address it. I just see our industry as a whole "hiding the cheese" in many places. I will strive to tell more clients about the escalating increase, because I don't want to have a irate customer call me after the first year has expired.

It's a lot of expense and probably not much return for the customer. May be a good time to get into an Aficio 240W.
