It Won't Work! Is the motto of the unimaginative, and the Cry of the Insecure

Ray Stasiezcko ·
The XEROX/HP saga playing out is proving that many can't see past what's in front of them and have limited imagination to assist them in discovering how things could be, based on how things should be. It has been a few months since Xerox took the bold action and beat HP to the table in a merger discussion. BUT XEROX IS TOO SMALL TO BUY- THE GREAT BIG HP!! Say those looking with no imagination. Yes, HP should have approached Xerox. HP having three times the market cap acquiring the smaller...

This Week in the Copier Industry 10 Years Ago for the First Week of May 2010

Years ago I use to burn the late night candle pretty often. In some cases I would still find myself emailing a prospect at 2AM in the morning. In most cases the email was to schedule a meeting for later that week. Those late night emails was just something I was use to. It wasn't until one of my clients made mention of the email that arrived at 2AM. Of course he didn't see it until he arrived at work. But this client went on to tell me that he wished he had more sales people like me, meaning...

Did you sell these, did you ever see one, or maybe you weren't even a twinkle in your Mom's eye when these copier manufacturers were the King of the Road! Copiers for sale or rent, copies to make, for three darn cents No finishers, no document feeders, no R & E, I aint got not accessories! "Tell Us About Some Old Copier Companies", was a question we posed to our Print4Pay Hotel members about a week ago, as you can see it was very popular thread. Oh gesh, do I remember those first gel-printers from Ricoh. They were cool, priced right, however almost all of the ended up with error codes (I think the code was E-99). The end result of the code was to throw the system in the trash It's ten years later and I bother with the small ink printers from Ricoh anymore. Although I'm a pretty big fan of the CW2201 color wide format that uses in. Placed three of these so far and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will perform. Enjoy the...

There's a really awesome topic from ten years ago titled " Is selling at cost the future for print hardware?". I went back and read it several times, and realized that 2009 was the start of the great recession. Somehow we survived, but recently I've heard some grumblings in the AEC industry and they are not good Enjoy these awesome threads from ten years ago this week! Nothing was "reliable" back then! Such a funky era of technology thinking back on it all. There were so many different physical configurations of copy machines back then. Each was a marvel of engineering chaos. I remember it well since the company that first hired me would work on anything they could get their hands on. I worked on plenty of those SCMs and Saxons when I first started out. They both went from liquid to dry toner technology before their demise. Saxon put their name on the...

The Week in Copiers Ten Years Ago This Week In 2010, the Second Week of August Last week all of the manufacturers in the imaging industry posted heavy losses. No one manufacturer was spared from COVID19 losses. Since I still plan to be doing what I do best for another ten years there are times when I need to think about the future of the Imaging Channel. Do I think print will go away, naw however I do believe that print volumes will decrease across the SMB space by at least 20%. I also...

I started with SCM in 1963 in Honolulu. SCM was king of the copier world back then. They had an excellent line of copiers, all the model numbers were double digits, 33, 44, 55, 111. The 55 was the first console with dual paper feeds and was the basis of three more spinoff models, the 111 and the 211 and the 412. Then in 1975, along came "black Friday" over a hundred branches were closed of sold to dealers. Their heyday was over. The Japanese came into the market and even though SCM sold...

Sponsored by April 19, 2024 Arcoa Group Why partnering with ARCOA makes sense Electronics Recycling is an important and profitable part of the IT asset lifecycle, but it can be overwhelming with all you already do, varying state regulations, and the limited resources at hand. That’s where ARCOA comes in. When you partner with ARCOA, you get all the benefits of a big company without any of the capital investment.
