It's a Savin MP4002sp. I would have said it shouldn't matter, but at this point I don't know what to think. I visited another location using the same EHR software (Practice Fusion) and they did not have the same problem. They (the ones not experiencing the problem) are using a Savin MP3053sp. Thanks for any help!

Jay, We typically go after about any machine other than a Xerox. If someone wants us to service their machine and its not a complete piece of junk we will take it on and will get parts and supplies from dealers etc. until we can upgrade to one of our lines; Savin, Canon, or Samsung. We expect our reps to go out and take service agreements and we pay them the first months billing. Most don't like to mess with 30.00 agreements but they add up and eventually you find a big one. Not only did Office Machines Company (a SHARP Dealer) lose out to IKON, the following Ricoh Family Group Dealers lost out to IKON: Lanier = Advanced Imaging Solutions Ricoh = Applied Imaging Savin = Adams Remco This trend will continue, wherein more and more IKON wins are realized at the expense of the Independent Dealers.

Re: GR firm wins Muskegon school district's copier bid

I understand that these dealers are part of the RFG, but they are also dual line dealers. Advanced Imaging recently taking on Canon and Adams Remco using Toshiba, especially for bid situations. Not as familiar with Applied Imaging, but I believe they are Canon also.

Regional Vice Presidents (Wholesale) will not have responsibility for IKON, nor RBS. This had been erroneously reported in an Industry newsletter. Each Regional VP (Dealer) will maintain responsiblity for Ricoh / Savin / Lanier Dealers only. They simply report to IKON leadership now.

It will be interesting to see where the loyalty lies with this group of execs. I can remember shen they brought in Jim Ivy in Feb of 2000 (gee, it's been that long!), he moved in most of his guys from Savin. For the most part Ivy did an excellent job with Ricoh and Savin. I'm thinking Ricoh turns even further away from the Dealer Channel in the years to come.

Yes, it's gone now, it was actually if you googled Savin, there was a Products link right there on the google page and if you clicked it, it would take you to the Ricoh home page. We told our DSM and it was gone the next day. May have been up for only a few days. Will check occassionally to see if it happens again.

Yes, Ricoh (with IKON, RBS, SAVIN, LANIER) still holds the #1 position as of end 2010 Q2 (April through end June 2010). Yet, they are down -18% (in terms of Units) as compared to the same time period last year (2009).

Re: Printing Envelopes Reliably on MPC300

jswinberlin ·
I think Old Glory means A4. Remember, 4 is less than 3 (it's a metric thing). You should be able to create an "envelope printer" by installing a second instance of the printer with the same IP address. In the PCL 6 driver (not universal), you can go into the printer properties, print preferences, detailed settings and rotate the image 180 degrees. When you say the printer "red lights", what is the error? Is it a paper type mismatch? If so, what is it calling for? How may envelopes are they...

Re: Ricoh Loses another Top Exec

Your comments above demonstrate the frustration that many RFG (Ricoh / SAVIN / Lanier) Dealers are feeling, which began when Ricoh acquired IKON. Since then, many Independent Dealers have picked up another Product Line, or bolstered their business with the other Vendor(s) they were already carrying. Ricoh is simply not stable, especially for Independent Dealers that sell Ricoh / Savin / Lanier. Yet, even the IKON / RBS direct side is faltering and the musical chairs amongst 'leadership' will...

Here is the text from the email we got: Dear Dealer Principal Effective January 1, 2012, Ricoh will implement a price increase. Ricoh, Savin and Lanier equipment and accessories will reflect a 5% increase from the current dealer pricing and SRP prices, excluding A4 laser printers and Gel printers which will have no change. All supplies and parts will reflect a 3% increase without exception. This increase is due to the ongoing appreciation of the Japanese Yen. We have been faced with cost...

Unfortunately it was lost. The customer wanted 60 per minute for black minimum and was not concerned if color was slower, since their volume would not be very high. The K-M is 60 black and 50 color, and the Ricoh/Savin is 65 black 60 color, and I was more expensive because of that I am sure, although the pricing was not revealed to me. So they used print resolution as the reason but I think it was pricing, they just didn't want to say it, even though he said we were about even, I am thinking...

I don't see how this can be an effective product in an MPS strategy beacuse of the high cpp. It has more speed and a much more modern and user-friendly appearing interface than the Savin 920spf but run a comparison of the CPP between the Savin 920spf cost per page and the 4410SPF cost per page and tell me which you would rather support - many times we are charging between .01 and .015 for service and supplies - how can we do that on this product and make a profit? - I just don't see it.

I agree totally with the previous post. I recently went on an appt. with someone who is specifically trained on the production units by Ricoh. Any of us who have been selling Ricoh or Savin for a number of years, knows how to point out the features and benefits of any of our devices. The success of this appt, was based on relating to the pains of a commercial printer. This person knew what buzz words to use, and what buttons to push. The new IKON (Sorry, I mean Ricoh, I keep forgetting) may continue to follow this stratgey with certain key Dealers only, or in very rural markets where Direct (RBS / IKON) do not want to travel for service and support. Metro Sales is Ricoh's largest Dealer (either #1 or #2 in revenue), so this makes sense for them. I can more clearly see that Ricoh will focus on Direct and the IKON executives in charge now (down in Malvern, PA) will try to implement the Services-led business. Yet, smaller...

I hate to see even the worst person in the world accused or guilty of something like this. But on the bright side, now that Ivy will be gone, we might get someone in who is more Ricoh friendly instead of Savin, Gestetner friendly.
