Xerox has today announced the launch of the iGen4 220 Perfecting Press, which it claims will be the world's most productive cut-sheet digital colour press.

The iGen4 220, which features two iGen4 110 presses running in tandem, can print 220 impressions per minute, enabling a monthly print volume of up to 7m impressions.

Xerox said the iGen4 220 will help printers to save time and labour, while maximising their finishing equipment, because one finishing device can be used to support both engines.

Eric Armour, president of Xerox Corporation's Global Business Group, said: "Our customers told us turnaround time, productivity and labour costs are their major challenges. We listened and built this press to convert those challenges into opportunities."

The new press, which has a smaller footprint than two iGen4 110's running side-by-side and requires only one operator, is scheduled to be commercially available in Q2 2010.

The new system will come with in-line spectrophotometers in each engine as standard and will be driven by FreeFlow Print Server technology, integrated with FreeFlow Output Manager.

The press can handle a range of 12 stocks in sizes up to 364x571mm.
