European-wide investment in Ricoh’s flagship Ricoh Pro™ C9110 continues unabated with its adoption by X-IdÉ, the first Norwegian print service provider to do so. In fact, the general commercial operation was so impressed with the capabilities of the durable, high volume digital press that it has installed four units.

“Competition in the print industry has never been fiercer,” comments X-IdÉ General Manager Jan Åge Nordli. “As a result, commercial printers need to increase margins and maintain profitability by investing in new technology that is durable and productive for high digital print volumes. In addition, they want to collaborate with suppliers who help them convey their message by combining creativity and high quality content.”

He continues: “X-IdÉ is experiencing a high demand for digital print. Our customers are expecting shorter delivery times and increased quality. The Ricoh Pro C9110 provides us with the solution we need. In addition, we can now offer banner printing and other services that give us greater flexibility in addressing existing and emerging customer requirements.”

“X-IdÉ is another print service provider that has chosen Ricoh technology as the cornerstone of its delivery of digital print,” states Graham Moore Director, Business Development, Ricoh Europe. “We are well aware of the strict demands of their clients and we are confident that we as a company and our production systems are well suited for this.”

“X-IdÉ’s new digital presses join two Heidelberg eight colour machines and will be used primarily for jobs where the runs are less than 4,000 to 6,000. They will be used to produce real estate and financial brochures, as well as magazines, books and leaflets for a wide range of regional and national operations. X-IdÉ also hopes to target new business in the retail sector.

The Ricoh Pro C9110 opens up new markets through its affordability and capability to print on uncoated, textured and coated media from 52gsm to 400gsm, duplex banner sheet printing up to 700mm and even speciality media such as super-gloss, magnetic, metallic, transparent or synthetic materials. This allows commercial printers to produce light packaging, direct mail, books, promotional materials, brochures and business cards, among other things.

X-IdÉ was particularly impressed with its ability to produce exceptional print quality of up to 1200 x 4800 dpi through the enhanced Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology and its productivity of up to 130 A4 ppm. Also a deciding factor for X-IdÉ was the robust design and finishing options.

Moore concludes: “Ricoh is experiencing great interest and demand for both the new flagship digital press Pro C9110 and the Pro™ C7100X across Europe. It is clear the productivity, quality and usability of both series create a compelling combination for print service providers searching for ways to improve their competiveness and creativity while at the same time addressing broader markets and embracing new opportunities. We are pleased that X-IdÉ has joined a growing number of progressive production printing operations who are taking advantage of these robust capabilities to ensure continued business growth.”
