wide format document management

I have a building department within a county agency
that would like to file, index, archive and have searchable their large format documents (legacy docs as well). Also some small format documents.
Basically they want to have all docs related to a parcel number indexed and retrievable.
Large format document management is new to me and I would appreciate any suggestions the members here might have.

The big question with Large Format Document Management is what format do they want the electronic versions is? If PDF or TIFF works - then many of the smaller format solutions can work. If they want to maintain them in DWG,DWF or DXF then more speacilized solutions are needed. I have seen a solution called Fortis from Westbrook Technologies that will work great. In addition they can index smaller format documents along with the large format, this is great to keep bid specs and other commonly used smaller format documents along with the drawings. Hope that helps.
