Here are some additional comments regarding the fusing area improvements in
the new 40/50 ppm B2C models, which were mentioned at the recent VISION
show.

The fusing roller (PN:AE010068) combines the function of the heating
roller, fusing belt, and fusing roller in one part
The diameter of the fusing roller has been enlarged and it is coated
with rubber due to it being heated directly.
This change in fusing technology enables a faster warmup and recovery
time.

Subject: What's New - B2C 28/33/40/50 ppm Product!

Good morning...

Some comments on the upcoming new B2C products scheduled to be launched
shortly.

Improvement in Yields to PM Parts

Yield on developer and fuser parts increased from 160K to 240K.
Yield on PCU's increased from 80K to 120K.
2 PCU's, one B&W and one color. The same PCU is used for all 3 colors.
Yield on development units increased from 320K to 480K.
Waste toner collection unit is sold as a part but can be replaced by end
user.

Improved Toner Quality

New chemical toner for improved print quality and support of 1200 dpi
printing. Yields are the same as previous models.
gEEZ!!! wHAT THE HECK IS EVERYONES thoughts on a tri color PCU?!!! Similar to I guess the the CL3000N.

I mean, its like a tri color ink cartridge, if one cleaning blade or one drum gets scratched you (the dealership) or the customer has to replace the whole unit.

Would love to hear from others on this....
Hey Art,
I thought the same thing when I saw the note about the tri-color PCU. It reminds me of the days when we were selling the Savin 9918DP (Aficio 180) with the AIO cartridge. The manufacturer yield was 12,000 pages, but (real world) the customer was getting about 8,000 pages. Really wreaked havoc with the customer's cpp and cost our dealership a ton of money once customers realized they were getting nowhere near the yields that we had suggested (we lowered our AIO cartridge pricing to help absorb the expense for our clients). The difference this time is that we will sell most of these units on a cpp basis, so any yield issues will be totally ours to deal with. I'm anxious to see what kind of cpp our dealership will apply to these new models.
Jim:

If you have a current MPC4500 and the cyan drum fails, all you have to do is replace the cyan drum. With this new unit, if the cyan fails you the dealer will have to replace all three. I have not seen pricing yet, however I would be amazed if the price for the 3 PCU unit is the same as 1 PCU for the MPC4500. Thanx for the DMAP pricing!
This is not a tri-color PCU. There are still four drum units. The difference is that the color PCU can be used for all three of the colors (i.e. there is not a separate part number for a cyan drum, yellow drum, etc.) The same part number is used to replace any of CMY. This was a change that was implemented in mid-life on the MP C4500 Series as well. Hope this helps get some people off the ledge...
