I want to get a discussion started regarding US Communities and everyone's experience with it.

For those who haven't been initiated on this yet, US Communities is a nationwide bid contract (Exclusive to Ricoh, Savin and Gestetner) for Non-Profits and non-Federal Governments. such as cities, counties, and state agencies. So it applies to all churches, schools, Non-profit hospitals, municipalities, counties, state agencies, and non-profits such as United Way or Cancer Society.

End-user price comes in at a price that is roughly similar to True Dealer Cost (BPA level 2). Dealers get DMAP6 cost for these deals. If the dealer is willing to commit to $100,000 worth of US Communities contracts over the next twelve months, the price goes down to DMAP9.

The deals are tight but not skinney...about 20% margin (for the dealer) but you should be able to blow away any competition going up and down the street with this. It gives a high volume discount even if it is a single 1515. It also works with the whole product line including PriPort, Wide Format, Printers, etc.

I would like to get some feedback from some who have been proposing this.

It is up to your GEM MASM to inform you of this. If you don't know about it, it is probably because he hasn't gotten to you yet or he is trying desperately to get an audience with the powers in your company and they won't give him the time of day.

Regarding the Contract Dates...you will notice that the contract was for an initial 3 years with 2 one year renewal options which can take it to 2007. If it doesn't get renewed it will be due to the lack of participation but I just learned of it 6 months ago and many of you are hearing about it for the first time even though it is 3 years old.
For those who are doing their own research on this there are a few additional things you should know.
1.) Accounts need to be registered but this is easy and free.
2.) The contract gives them a 25% discount for supplies. Ricoh has given them our profit without lowering our cost of goods. However, that really isn't a factor because of supplies are usually included in maintenance.
3.) Ignore the supplies excluded maintenance. We are not obligated to that pricing which is a good thing since it is $0.0039/copy. The supplies included pricing is actually higher than our book pricing so it's OK.
4.) You may use your own leasing company!!! That probably means that if you quote the monthly lease payment that is shown on the contract, you should get a higher price than had they paid cash because your rate should be better than the one used on the contract.
5.) One last hint...if you are getting memory from Memory Experts, always max out the memory. US Communities price for 256MB is $480. Memory Experts charges $61. That is $419 additional G.P. If you are not getting memory from Memory Experts, you need to be.
