The school board also approved a five-year, $350,000 copier contract with Toshiba, which has served the schools for the past 10 years. Although Systel Business Systems offered an identical price in its bid, the board agreed to stay with Toshiba based on the company’s satisfactory performance.

Superintendent Shanita Wooten and Director of Accountability Hugh McIlwain both recommended Toshiba.

McIlwain also recommended a program to network classroom computers with the school copier to save money on printer ink for classroom printers, which runs $25,000 a year.
