The New Océ TDS320 Print, Copy and Scan System—High Functionality in an Affordable Solution for Low-Volume Users

Entry-Level Digital System Replaces Cumbersome, Two-Step Plot-Then-Copy Process

February 2, 2006, Chicago—Océ (Nasdaq: OCENY), a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, today unveiled the Océ TDS320 large format print, copy and scan system. This monochrome system is ideally suited for lower volume print/copy environments—from workgroups in large companies and government agencies to smaller engineering, construction and architectural firms—who seek a high quality, productive solution for their drawing reproduction needs. Features such as scan-to-file functionality, copy-set processing and a fully integrated stacker make the Océ TDS320 productive and time-efficient. Additionally, the Océ TDS320 offers analog users the opportunity to economically move to a digital solution without a large initial investment.

"Low-volume users want a single system that will take them into a fully functional digital workflow—yet is reliable, adaptable and affordable. The new Océ TDS320 meets those needs. It generates the output you need, when and how you want it, with the least effort possible. The result is a more productive workflow without sacrificing quality or budget," said Sal Sheikh, Vice President, Marketing, Océ Wide Format Printing Systems division of Océ North America.

The Océ TDS320 caters to a variety of customer needs. In addition to making it easy for analog users to upgrade to an affordable, entry-level digital solution, the new system appeals to users of inkjet plotters or older digital printers. In today’s environment, antiquated digital technology poses workflow challenges because it is often slower and less productive. The cumbersome, two-step process of making a plot, then using a separate device for multiple copies, combined with the inability to easily make multiple sets of drawings, is like a "sleeping elephant" compared to newer, faster digital systems. Updated digital technology, unlike its predecessors, is more productive and can eliminate many manual, time-consuming steps.

The new system also complements different types of work environments. The Océ TDS320 is available in versatile, upgradeable configurations including a one- or two-roll printer, copier or full multifunction system with scan-to-file capability.

Océ TDS320 Innovations

The Océ TDS320 is a low volume, entry-level solution that packs a lot of functionality into one competitively priced system that’s designed with workflow in mind. Customers benefit from high-quality image resolution, fast processing and finishing options, environmental efficiencies and the long-term reliability they’ve come to expect from every Océ product.

High-Quality Scanning, Copying and Printing
The Océ TDS320 leverages patented Océ technology to deliver high-quality output for large format technical documents. The optional scanner employs a single-camera/single-mirror technology to bypass the image calibration and stitching issues found in competitive scanners that increase the chances of distortion and defects. Océ Image Logic® technology automatically enhances images during scanning and brings the highest level of quality to copied and scan-to-file documents.

At the same time, users benefit from consistent, high-quality printing. The Océ TDS320 print engine features a print resolution of 600 dpi, providing outstanding print quality that allows for fine details, sharp lines and text, smooth curves and high-level grayscales. Coupled with the Océ Green Button approach, walk-up users can make scans or copies that are right the first time.

Time-Saving Features and Fast File Processing
Not only can users expect consistent image quality from the Océ TDS320, they can get it immediately. Timesaving Océ Radiant Fusing technology ensures high-quality printing begins as soon as the printer receives a print or copy job, eliminating any warm-up time. Thanks to the powerful Océ Power Logic® controller—the heart of the system that manages all activities and allows concurrent copying, scanning and printing—even large files are processed quickly, minimizing frustrating wait time and lost productivity.

The separate scanner also saves time, allowing multiple operators to access and use the system simultaneously. When equipped with the patented Océ Scan Logic® software, this scan-to-file solution produces real-time scanned images that can be delivered to up to six customizable internal or external destinations. This speeds drawing communication and makes it possible to create a digital archive of a physical file.

Convenient and Productive Finishing Options
Further time savings and workflow efficiencies are gained with the system’s support of copy-set processing and enhanced finishing options. The Océ TDS320’s copy-set processing capability lets users copy sets of drawings in a "send once, process once, print many" fashion. The output is then collated, neatly stacked and accessible from the front of the system—eliminating hand collation in the post-production phase. With this feature, the Océ TDS320 makes it easy for customers to make their distribution sets in house, thereby speeding the drawing distribution process.

Also, the two-roll version of the Océ TDS320 comes equipped with a Compact Output Stacker that neatly stacks up to 100 E-size prints at a time. Prints are delivered in proper order and reliably stacked, even when using mixed sizes. Users get the documents they require without the need for manual sorting, saving time and increasing productivity.

Environmental Efficiency and Long-Term Reliability
The Océ TDS320 is an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly solution. The system can be placed "anywhere, anytime" due to the technology’s low noise, low ozone and low energy design. As a result, customers can feel comfortable placing the Océ TDS320 near user workstations in a departmental setting without distracting or disturbing employees.

The Océ TDS320 is built using durable materials like metal plating instead of plastic system parts. This ensures the system will be reliable for years to come, plus it minimizes the downtime caused when plastic parts break. Durable construction combined with award-winning Océ service provide users a complete solution with the highest level of productive uptime.
