The SR 90 is much improved from the SR 85 but here is one thing it can't do.

Customer has a 50 page 8 1/2 by 11 job(page count doesn't matter) and they want to print it to the SR90 paginated and with a different color cover. Seems easy enough but the 2090/SR90 puts the cover on the inside of the booklet. Not the outside. Oddly enough if you print the job with the same settings but NOT through the SR90 it prints correctly. Ricoh is now aware of the issue and hopefully will have a fix.

The only workarounds I have found is to print to the docserver first or pre-print the covers and insert them from the interposer on the SR90(not practical in this case)

Also remember that if you have a customer that will be printing a lot of booklets to the SR 90 you are limited to a maximum of 2500 sheets of paper available for booklet making on the 2090/2105

I hate leaning things the hard way...

Jay,
Could you clarify that you are using the SR90 Cover Inserter. Because I was at Ricoh last week running a job that required 16 pages of 11x17 20 lb stock and 1 80lb cover. The first time I ran the job, I think it did insert the cover on the inside of the job, but then I did something, I'm sorry I don't remember, I'd have to be in front of the system again, but it worked beautifully. Frankly, there was noone around to help in the beginning and I set the thing up by myself with the help of the sales info guide and ran it. I was very impressed. The client was even impressed with the output. Also, I was connected with my laptop to run the job. Never had to try to run it from the system. The 80lb covers were pre-printed and were fed through the Cover Inserter on the SR90. Let me know if this is the same type of scenario.

By the way, Art. This is also a reply to you from your feedback last week. The 80lb cover went into this job without a glitch.
Yes let me clarify. The system works great if you use the cover inserter on the SR90. Our particular application was a job where the cover was not preprinted, they just wanted to draw a different color piece of paper for the cover. We started with a 52 page PDF File(sequential order). Using the RPCS Driver we configured it this way. Magazine mode/Saddle stitch/ Cover sheet /output to the docked SR90. The job would paginate properly but the color sheet would draw and be stapled in the center of the book, not the outside, as you would expect. If we run the job with the same settings but we do not go automatically to the SR90 for finishing, then the job runs fine and the color cover sheet is inserted in its proper location. You could then run the job manually to the SR90. Unfortunately for our customer they want this all to be done automatically. Preprinting the cover or manually finishing are not satisfactory.
