When setting up Plot Client Win on XP Professional workstations with SP2, I needed to turn on SNMP.

When trying to turn it on, I was prompted to insert Windows Professional SP2 CD. I don't have it, never did. Contacted MS and they said contact pc manufacturer, manufacturer said see windows update.

Searched Google, Windows FAQ's, Manufacturer's FAQ's, went to bed.

Hope to hear from someone in the morning.

All good points. I agree that building the Plotbase Server into the machine investment is the way to go. However, Plot Client Win must be installed on client machines to print sets to the wide format system. There doesn't seem to be a way to get around having to turn on SNMP without having an OS CD. It doesn't seem to be necessary to have the original licensed OS cd for the specific computer, but it is necessary to have one for the specific OS.

When working with companies that have a good IT department, it would be helpful to have them turn this on prior to installation. However, most of the companies that I work with don't know where their original software is.

It would be nice if Ricoh had these files available via the support and downloads on the web. I won't hold my breath.
Plot Cient Win doesn't require SNMP to be installed on the client PC, SNMP only needs to be on the Plotbase server.

I've done several of these installs and never had to install SNMP on the client.

I just checked my Demo machine, Plotbase server has SNMP, the client PC (win2k pro) across the room does not have SNMP and Plot Client Win runs just fine.
