SMB Scanning C2820

Trying to set up SMB scanning on C2820. All PC's on network can ping, print to and send LAN Faxes to the MFP. But when trying to scan, it fails. When I try to browse the network from the MFP, a window pops up on the C2820 control panel saying "specified path cannot be found. check settings" I am not even able to see the network at all. My questions are: What would cause this? How can I fix it? Is it worth trying to use scan router instead of SMB?

No, never use scanrouter if you can help it. It sounds like you don't have either the domain name or workgroup name in the machine. You can do all the other things you mentioned without these, but you cannot scan to SMB without one or the other. It is also deceiving because you can scan to email without either the domain or workgroup (whichever they use). See if this is the answer!
