Sindoh Adds US Distribution for New Trio of B&W A4 MFPs

After months of speculation and preparation but with no public fanfare, Korea’s Sindoh has formally established a US sales operation, begun recruiting dealers, and signed well- known office equipment distributors to begin offering what is initially a very small line of A4-size monochrome MFPs.

There was no formal press release or announcement from Sindoh when it launched the Sindoh America web site on December 5 and announced the opening of a US office in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sindoh is still fleshing out the web site, but what it makes clear is that the company is starting its US operations by offering three A4-size monochrome MFPs through a pair of office equipment distributors.

The first Sindoh MFPs to be made available in the US market are the nearly identical 34 and 38 ppm M402 and M403, and the 50 ppm N707. The distributors

for the new models are Carolina Wholesale, which is headquartered in Charlotte, and Collins Distributing, whose main offices are in Memphis and in Cerritos, California.

Sindoh has been saying for more than a year — ever since it launched the first models in its new line of A4 devices in Korea — that it intended to establish a presence in the US (The MFP Report, Nov 11, Dec 11 and Apr 12).

While Sindoh is largely unknown or at least unfamiliar in the US, the company is hardly a start-up. It was initially founded as Sindo Ricoh in South Korea back in 1960. It was Ricoh’s first overseas sales

go here for more subsidiary and actually opened two years before Ricoh established a US sales company.
