Sharp… (The word on the street) …is selling!
October 19, 2012

One of my colleagues is at the CDA (Independent Dealer Association) meeting this week. The key note Speaker was the president of Sharp USA. The word at this meeting is that Sharp IS SELLING their copy division, among others. (I only care about the Copier Division). Now he didn’t specifically say that this came from the President of Sharp. But he called back, and had our VP of Sales make this announcement at our Friday morning sales meeting.

Yesterday The President of my company received a call from the President of the CDA (Independent Dealer Association). What my President relayed to me was Sharp had contacted the President of the CDA and told him that they would take legal action against the company that I work for if I didn't pull the article and print a retraction. My Blog is not a company blog, but out of respect for the guy I work for I did pull the article. I noted why, but specified that no one from Sharp had contacted me directly. I then made the offer to Sharp that I would offer them the opportunity to put all these rumors to rest by posting a statement on my Blog stating that they have no intention to sell their copier division. But they are a publicly held company and can not knowingly mislead stockholders. So I truly doubt they will take me up on my offer. If they do post something it will be like the last letter that had a caveat at the end stating the Sharp will do whatever it takes, or something to that effect.

Bottom line the link above is no longer active.

I expect that the silence from Sharp will be deafening.

I hate to add another rumor to the Sharp story but I heard from a Konica Minolta Dealer Sales Manager that something was cooking between the two companies (could be just BS).

Also, a prominent 10 year Sharp dealer just left Sharp to become a Konica Minolta dealer. Sharp Canada now owns that dealer's base of Sharp copiers and is providing Sales & Service directly from Sharp Canada.
This was an inamil I received from linkedin today:

I have noticed your many posts about Sharp and would like to offer my assistance in answering any questions you may have. There seems to be many missing pieces that you would likely have questions on.
