MAHWAH, N.J., JAN. 17, 2013 — /PRNewswire/ -- Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, has announced the company's Centennial School Contest winner. As part of the company's 100 year celebration, Sharp held a contest open to all K-12 accredited schools in the United States. The prize: $100,000 of state of the art Sharp products for the school's classrooms, including interactive displays, copier/printers, professional projectors, calculators, LCD TVs and air purifiers.

Coleman School District of Coleman, WI, was selected from an overwhelming number of outstanding submissions that Sharp received. "After reviewing the district's submission and watching their video, we knew we had found our winner," said Doug Albregts, President of SIICA. "Coleman's response demonstrated the district's need for advanced technology, as well as their understanding of how Sharp's products could enhance the learning experience of their students."

Coincidentally, like Sharp, Coleman also celebrated their 100th anniversary in 2012. "What a great way for all of us to celebrate," said Coleman School District Superintendent, Brian Walters. "We are in desperate need of updated technology in all of our classrooms. Budget cuts have made keeping up with technological advancements a real struggle. This award from Sharp will benefit our students tremendously. At the end of the day, what we do here as educators is all about them. We couldn't be happier or more excited for the future."

This award is a true testament to Sharp's commitment to future generations. David Alai, Corporate Vice President, commented on the announcement, "As we celebrate our achievements over the past century, we are continuing to look ahead for opportunities to make the next one hundred years even better, not only for Sharp but also for the next generation of citizens. At Sharp, we are strong supporters of education and know this worthy cause will contribute greatly to the success of Coleman School District and its students for years to come."
