Segment 1 MFP and business-level fax machine supplement entry level of product lineup

Muratec America, Inc., manufacturer of multifunction office equipment and business productivity solutions, announces today the introduction of a segment 1 copier-based MFP, the MFX-1330, and a business-level fax machine, the F-300. Both units are positioned as low cost-of-entry machines designed to round-out the entry level of the Muratec product line.

PLANO, Texas (January 17, 2005) — “We’re certainly a niche player and these are certainly niche machines,” says Henry Mori, Muratec America president and CEO. “That being said, we are certain both machines will be well received by our dealers. While many manufacturers are going the OEM route for their fax and segment 1 offerings, we believe our dealers will find value in products they can differentiate themselves with.”

The 13 ppm F-300 has an MSRP of $1,695. Also 13 ppm, the MFX-1330 is $2,195 MSRP for the standard unit and $2,295 for the MFX-1330D, which ships with standard duplexing capability.

Both machines are positioned to fill gaps in the company’s product lineup at the entry level. With Muratec MFP offerings, the MFX-1330 sits as the new low-level product. The unit essentially replaces the MFX-1200 (13 ppm) and MFX-1600 (17 ppm) as a low cost-of-entry machine not designed necessarily to be sold as a CPC-based unit.

The MFX-1330, however, can be equipped with the OfficeBridgeTM Plus digital document delivery option, providing affordable connectivity with network printing, scan to e-mail, network scanning, desktop faxing and other capabilities. In fact, OfficeBridge Plus offers almost identical functionality of the OfficeBridge Pro option offered on the company’s Segment 2 product, the MFX-2830.*

On the fax side, the F-300 fits between the 8 ppm F-110 and the company’s award-winning workhorses, the 13 ppm F-320 and 17 ppm F-360. Like the MFX-1330, the F-300 is designed to be sold as a low cost-of-entry unit, yet still deliver outstanding functionality including, along with the MFX-1330, standard color scanning capability.

“These new machines will fill a need for many of our dealers,” says Jim D’Emidio, Muratec America vice president of sales and marketing. “It gives them more options at the lower end of the spectrum.”

“We’ve recognized a gap in our F-Series line that made our dealers vulnerable to low-end products from some manufacturers. The F-300 and MFX-1330 fill that gap by offering the same level of functionality – and in many instances even more capabilities when OfficeBridge Plus is added to the MFX-1330 – but without the service and maintenance headaches frequently associated with many other products at this price level.”

Key features of the F-300 and MFX-1330:
* 13 ppm printing and copying capability
* Standard color scanning
* 33.6 Kbps fax modem
* Standard PC connectivity
* Flexible paper capacity
* 80-sheet ADF

Features exclusive to the MFX-1330 include:
* OfficeBridge Plus connectivity with network printing, scan to e-mail, desktop faxing and more
* Duplex printing capability (MFX-1330D)

The MFX-1330 and F-300 won’t generate the excitement of the recently released MFX-2830, the company’s new segment 2 flagship copier featuring standard single-pass duplex scanning, interactive voice guidance system and the OfficeBridge Pro digital connectivity solution. But D’Emidio is confident there is a place for these types of machines within the growing Muratec dealer channel.

“We believe both machines will be recognized as solid, entry-level products that provide outstanding features and value considering the price point,” he adds. “For dealers looking to expand their offerings and have the ability to further differentiate themselves, these units are two more reasons to become a Muratec dealer.”
