I sold a 4410nf and now the customer wants me to set up Scan to Email and LAN Fax. Our company does not have a tech that can do this, so the duty falls on me. The customer is using a Windows 2000 server and Windows XP. Can anyone help me in setting these up? I have a IP, Subnet, & Gateway address in the machine, which I got from their IT guy. I was reading the instructions in the NIC FAX Initial Settings, and that is where I am lost. Their IT guy is going to have to help putting in a SMTP & POP Server Setting, but he is going to ask me for help, and I need to have the answers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

open a web browser and in the address bar, enter the ip address of the fax. This is the easiest way to configure the machine.
for Scan to email, enter the ip address of the mail server.
for Lan fax, install the sw on each ws that wants the lanfax. this also installs the address book. The address book can be accessed from either the start>programs>lanfax>address book or within the lanfax itself.
It installs as a print app.
So to fax, from within an applcation, press File>print>(choose)LanFax. Enter either the phone # or choose from the address book.

You’ll need to enter the IP,subnet, gateway and (2) DNS servers IP’s into the fax. You already have IP and subnet. From any PC open Internet Explorer and in the address bar type in the IP address of the 4410. Select Admin mode and enter the password (password) no user name. (If memory serves me correct) On the left tree go to network, TCP/IP, here you can enter the DNS IP’s, and the IP address or mane of the mail server. On the tree look for E-Mail, here you need to enter a user name and password for the mail server. On the tree you’ll see address book, use this to enter everyone’s E-mail address.

For LANFAX, Go to add printer and install lanfax driver F3 ,enter IP address.

Good Luck
Glad the end result is a happy customer.
The firewall is only one of many varibles that you may run into. It is why it is so important that the customer have there own IT person during the install.
After the salesman has signed the deal it is up to you to make the system perform as expected.
If the customer is poor or "it is my mom's network" kind of deal you will have to deal with whatever comes up.
And altho you may be able to make it work, you may cause other problems on their nw. Not a good thing.
Ricoh is not much help when it is a nw problem. "Call the IT guy". Thanks!
Thank God for sites like this and "techconnect".
