Scan solution for Insurance Company

I have an insurance company that is scanning into Epic Online (Applied) with a Canon DR-3010c. The scanner offers the functions they need, but they have a lot of feed problems.

I'd like to recommend an MFP, but there are some features that I don't think I can duplicate that are offered by either the Canon software or TWAIN driver(see below).

1. Delete Blank Pages
2. Auto rotation of mixed oriented originals (can rotate landscape when fed in portrait orientation).

The customer has gotten used to these 2 features and probably will not use anything that does not offer them.

Whats the speed of the Canon?

Did you have a chance to check out the Fujitsu models, they are full featured just not sure they have the features your customer would be looking for.

I have not, but I know that it seems like a stand alone scanner would be better suited for their needs. I just don't think we want to take on a new product that does not "eat" for a single sale.

There would be no need to pick up another product line. Any dealer can get these through the usual distributors such as Tech Data or Ingram Micro and can sell various service packages from Fujitsu that you get through the same distributors.

the fugitsu's are easy to set up and if you have an issue you can call tech support. I love the product and the features

It turns out that PaperPort inside of PPDM does have these capabilities. However, you have to scan using a TWAIN driver. It appears that you can set up a Virtual PSP Scanner. However, this requires setting up the PPDM Scan Server that I always had problems with in the past. I'd entertain taking another crack at it if anything has changed. Does anyone have any experience with the Java enabled MFP application?

Any luck getting the Paperport Virutal scanner to work? I have a similiar situation where the Canon can TWAIN scan to PDF and the Ricoh devices cannot.

I didn't try. It seems they're too entrenched with what they have and it serves them well. It's a little too proprietary and operations specific to fool with at this point.
