We have a customer who previously used a Ricoh Aficio CL7300 and loved it. We sold them a Savin CLP240dn and they have been complaining a little about the colors not seeming rich enough, some haloing around words and other quality issues.

We have tried tweaking all of the drivers and have remedied some issues, only to make others worse.

In researching the issue, I've found that the CL7300 has a dpi of 1200 x 1200, while the Savin CLP240dn is up to 9600 x 600 interpolated RPCS only. Can anyone tell me how the two compare?

The Savin CLP340 specs say it is 1200 x 1200dpi and I would imagine it is more comparable to the CL7300. However, I don't want to order one and be stuck with two printers that the customer feels are unsatisfactory.

I'd appreciate any input. I'd also love an explanation or some documentation on dpi, 2 bit vs 4 bit, etc... Although I think I have a general understanding of these, a lot of it may be assumption.

Thanks!
