Samsung Pushes Into Crowded A3 Market

Samsung has brought us to their dealer show at the Four Seasons hotel in Las Vegas to show us their newly announced products. While this might be business as usual for most copier manufacturers, this show is significant for Samsung as they are officially launching four new A3 products;

•CLX-9250ND – MSRP; $10,802 (25 PPM color)

•CLX-9350ND – MSRP; $14,498 (35 PPM color)

•SCX-8030ND – MSRP; $9,916 (30 PPM monochrome)

•SCX-8040ND – MSRP; $11,374 (40 PPM monochrome)

The general session opened with Jy Lew, President of Samsung's Enterprise Business Division (EBD) addressing the crowd of 135 attendees from 70 dealers. Mr. Lew discussed how this third dealer summit was their most important yet because of the launch of their A3 product line and he joked that he hoped "what happens in Las Vegas does not stay in Las Vegas.

Gonna be an uphill battle, especially since their success up until now has been due to their A4 niche.

That said, Samsung is good at attacking new markets and gaining very good share. They killed it with TVs and Cameras.

Any thoughts guys?

I've never liked the GUI's on their A4's, I thought it was a more print centric device. If their GUI remains the same, I'm thinking tough existing A3 customers will have a tough time with the interface.

I think the MSRP for 25ppm device is high, sctually very unless it comes with an additional paper bank and finisher.

So far that's it from me, I haven't had the chance to do much research on these devices.
