What makes a survey such as this so difficult are the variables. I want to say to the "newbees" out there that you can't take survey results such as this and determine anything when comparing to your situation. Variables such as GP for instance. Most are not paid from true dealer cost but from a cost plus formula that varies. I may get a high % commission on GP but cost starts at dealer cost plus 20% where someone else may have a low commission but cost begins at dealer cost plus 5%. What about expense reimbursement? Some have all car and phone expenses reimbursed...that is probably in lieu of a higher salary. Also some pay plans are heavy on the qtly or annual bonus side so that those that produce have income well above their salary and commissions. Having built many a pay plan, I have "played with" all of these variables and more. I don't mind the survey but it would need at least 20 more questions to really begin to actually tell you anything about how your plan compares to others.
Old Glory:

You're correct to get a true sense of the comp at least twenty more questions would be needed and most probably would not take the time to do the poll.

Everyone has different expenses, cost, health, car and probably a whole heck of a lot more!

Thanx for taking the poll!
