The Doc. Server is suppossed to hold 10,000 pages at 6% coverage. How many pages do they really need to keep in the HDD of the 551? Would some of that be better in a shared file? Also, this might be the opportunity to try to sell them a software solution to store their docs on like the ScanRouter Document Server solution. While they can't scan docs into the solution from the 551, they can from the IS330DC Scanner, Fax5510NF (possible machine sale) or just drag and drop from their PC. They can access the files and print them if they need to on the 551. This would be a much better solution if they need to store docs. Then when you upgrade their machine, anyone but the 1055 will allow you to scan the docs. to the solution.
I believe the 551 has a 10GB HDD, I know you can go 3rd party and buy a 20GB/40GB and install it. When the tech installs the new HDD, plan on 1-2 hours for formatting the new HDD. I do not know if this will expand the storage capactiy. The firmware may limit the number of file names to 9,000, but if they have heavy coverage and are only using 3,000 file names, then the bigger HDD should give them extended storage space. I know you can switch the HDD because we have done it, but I do not know if it will give extended storage.
