Ricoh USA Inc. will close its Melbourne call center in the new year, cutting 76 jobs from the area.

The Malvern, Pa.-based company, which is the U.S. entity of the Japanese office electronics firm Ricoh Company Ltd., is closing its office at 3050 Venture Lane Bays due to a consolidation of business functions, it notified the state on Dec. 4. All the layoffs will happen on Jan. 29 or later.

The positions being affected include:

  • Managers
  • Senior associates
  • Supervisers
  • Business analyst
  • Specialist

Each employee has received notice of the separations.

The layoffs will not affect any other locations, Ricoh USA spokesman John Greco told Orlando Business Journal. "Relocation to our Tucker, Georgia facility will be offered to some employees and all are eligible to apply for any open positions across the company."

The company also has sales and dealer locations in south Orlando and Maitland. In total, it has 800 employees across Florida, Greco said.

Earlier this year, Ricoh USA cut 150 positions at a call center in Houston, sister paperHouston Business Journalreported.

The company was founded in Tokyo in 1938 and created its North American branch in 1962. Ricoh produces office devices such as printers and copying machines. Ricoh has a presence in the U.S., Canada and Latin America, with more than 30,000 employees.
