Ricoh has launched the MP C3003SP/MP C3503SP/MP C4503(A)SP/MP C5503(A)SP/MP C6003SP in Europe.

These machines do look rather like their predecessors, the Ricoh MP C3002/MP C3502/MP C4502/MP C5502, but there are significant new features to be found under the hood.

First of all, they all run SRA3 (320 by 450 mm, equivalent to 12 by 18 inch stock in N America). It allows for printing A3 (or Ledger) output right to the bleed giving ample margin for trimming. So these machines are suitable for marketing departments and design agencies etc - they handle the larger stocks required, plus they have an option for an E-22C Fiery RIP.

Another new feature is the scan to text PDF, aka searchable PDF. Many other MFPs in this segment of the market already provide scan to PDF text, which improves document workflow while obviating the need for OCR as a second step in a process.

Lastly, there's an all-new internal finishing option being launched with this new range of copiers. It supports 1- and 2-point stapling but can also be fitted with a hole punch - all without substantially increasing the overall size of the machine.

I assume this means the much-needed C6502/8002 will hit the states after this series does.   It makes no sense since the graphics version (Pro C5100 series) has already launched in the states.  This is now 3 generations that have been released in the 30-55ppm range since the C6501/7501 was introduced.   If Ricoh Europe & USA are waiting to deplete existing inventory to launch the new models,  we won't see the C6502/8002 until 2014, because no one wants to increase their C6501/7501 MIF & be burdened by that lemon for another 3-5 years.

I agree I can't even move them if I have competition because they can compete with the new models from Xerox and Canon.  I still can;t understand why they even released the PRO 5100's especially and 80 ppm system. That's the reason or the 651 and 751 right?
