Good evening,

I had a VP CIO ask me this question:

"You have any info on Ricoh Enterprise Cloud Printing?  Looking for a solution to handle entire company printing via cloud solution as opposed to print server.  More than likely going with Microsoft, but want to understand other options."

I am kind of embarrassed as Ricoh dealer as I am not familiar with Ricoh's solution. Can anyone help with this question and does Ricoh have a solution for this that would be more efficient and cost effective than Microsoft. Was also thinking of PaperCut.

Appreciate any suggestions or discussion on the topic.

This is a Major Account Client of mine and have had a long term relationship with them as well.

Many options here.  Ricoh has a Device Enhancement option for Ricoh Smart Integration cloud platform.  It will lock the MFP, require either badge or PIN login, and track copy and print.  The print function is entirely cloud based on Ricoh's servers.  It uses a special driver for Mac and Windows that sends the job to the cloud.  Allows release anywhere in the network with authentication.

If the customer is moving to the Microsoft Universal Print function, Ricoh devices do not currently have a direct connection to the MS cloud, but like the early days of Google Cloud Print, rely on a MS agent running somewhere in the network to publish the Ricoh devices.  If MS Universal Print does catch on, Ricoh will more than likely come out with a upgrade to directly communicate with it.  But MS Universal Print is still in Beta release, and does not currently support Macs.  We will see where this ends up.

PaperCut does support MS Universal Print, if the customer wants the many features of PaperCut.
