Ricoh creates new packaging material

Announced it will manufacture PLA, also called “PLAiR”, a material derived from plant sugars
- when burned, does not increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the air
- can also be disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way; decomposing into water and carbon dioxide under controlled environments such as soil or compost

- emit 75% less carbon dioxide than products made with other resins.*
- utilized supercritical CO2 in its processing to develop PLA fine foam sheets
- multiple applications - from cushioning and packing materials to disposable foodware.
