RICOH CORPORATION ALIGNS WITH DOCULEX TO PROVIDE ENHANCED DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS

West Caldwell, NJ, April 18, 2005 – Ricoh Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, announced today that DocuLex, a document management software provider, has joined Ricoh’s strategic Alliance Program. Together, Ricoh and DocuLex offer a complete document management solution that allows for the efficient and effective capture, index, storage and retrieval of documents, saving end users significant time and providing them with peace of mind that their documents are secure.

Beginning in 1997, the relationship between Ricoh and DocuLex has grown stronger over the years and is exemplified by DocuLex’s ready acceptance into the Alliance Program. DocuLex provides software solutions for Ricoh’s multifunction products (MFPs), production scanners, wide format, and facsimile products. DocuLex’s diverse product line is complementary to Ricoh, creating a synergy between companies and enabling Ricoh to meet its primary business goal of delivering state-of-the-art office products and solutions to the marketplace. By utilizing each other’s expertise, Ricoh and DocuLex are able to offer a complete solution for users that desire paper or electronic file capture and indexing, browser-based file search, and retrieval software.

Due to information overload in today’s work environment it has become increasingly difficult to keep personal information secure and private. DocuLex assists with privacy requirements by storing critical documents in a safe location, protecting them from being tampered with, destroyed, or misused. Additionally, from a document recovery standpoint, end users can easily access and manage their secure information, enabling business continuity in the unfortunate event of a crisis situation.

DocuLex’s Goby Capture is a content indexing and PDF conversion software with multiple distribution options, including Ricoh’s eCabinet and DocumentMall. Goby Capture is designed to maximize the scanning features of digital copiers, MFPs and network scanners and provide indexing, archiving, and sharing convenience. Working in tandem with Ricoh digital office products, Goby Capture provides complete control of the document management process enabling end users to properly identify, organize and distribute documents at the beginning of their life cycle.

Goby Capture consists of two separate running components, Goby Profiler and Goby Monitor. Goby Profiler enables users to profile and catalog documents prior to scanning with custom index metadata and file names. Once the scanned documents are recognized by Goby Monitor, they are organized and saved as searchable files and are then forwarded to locations including the user's desktop, custom named folders, FTP location, an email address, etc.

“We are pleased to have DocuLex as an Alliance Member as it reaffirms our long-standing relationship and exemplifies Ricoh’s desire to work with companies that complement our ability to provide total document management solutions that cater to our customers’ needs,” said Wayne Mize, vice president of solutions marketing division for Ricoh Corporation.

Ricoh’s Alliance Program encourages leading software companies, content management systems integrators and consulting companies to work together with Ricoh to provide innovative and effective software, digital imaging and content/document management solutions for the business community. There are two divisions within the Alliance Program, the Strategic Alliance Program and the Technology Alliance Program.
DocuLex has joined the Technology Alliance Program, which is comprised of third party software companies who specialize in niche solution offerings that complement Ricoh’s hardware and software technologies.
