We received in from are used copier wholesaler a Ricoh C3000 with the dataoverwrite option. My question relates to when you what to fax out a document and have to manually enter the fax number you have to enter it in 2 times before it sends out. Is this because the dataoverwrite option or is this a simple fax setting that needs to be changed. Also can the dataoverwrite option be removed from the machine as most of our customers do not need the option.

Yes it is the DOSS option. We did try to remove the sd card for the DOSS but the machine asked for contact administrator. So I hope that can be fixed by changing the setting in user tools. We hope we can remove the DOSS because the customer needs to add postscript. I was not the tech that was asked about the manual input of fax numbers but my understanding is that when you push manual dial and enter the fax number and then push start the machine prompts yo to enter the number again before it will send out. Does anyone have a postscript option for this machine that we can purchase. Is was thinking about clearing the fax parameters back to default to see if clears the double input of manual fax numbers. All fax numbers that are entered in the address book behave normally.
I tried that, wouldn't work. I didn't even realize that this was happening until I was showing the customer how to use the machine after I installed it. It won't let you input a number manually on the main fax screen. You have to select "Manual Input" under the fax # window. Another window pops up and only then can you enter the number. After you press "Start" the window pops back up for you to enter it a second time. Then you press "Start" again and it will finally dial. It's really weird if you ask me.
We tried doing a ram clear on the fax option but it did not make any change in the manual dial procedure. What it did do was clear all the user parameters for the fax unit back to default which changed the setting so that the machine prints a fax report after every successful transmission. The customer does not want this. When I went into user tools for fax and tried to print off user parameters the machine will not let me, it displays that I dont have permissions to do so. Even if I try to change any parameters it gives me same message. So it seems something with the DOSS option is blocking access. I am thinking I might have to do a all memory clear for entire machine. Has anyone had any experience in removing DOSS option and returning machine to normal operating modes. We are an independent dealer so I cant call Ricoh support anymore. I was also wondering about replacing nvram but think this might cause a serial number error. I know that sometimes when we get in used Ricohs that have web monitor admin mode password changed we can clear with network card memory clear. Another thought about the double entry on manual dialing. Is it possible that some piece of software has been loaded onto the machine. I was reading about some move commands for the sd cards, but have no experience in doing so.
