RICOH RECOGNIZED BY UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE FOR OUTSTANDING SUPPLIER PERFORMANCE

West Caldwell, NJ, October 28, 2004 – Ricoh Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, today announced that Ricoh has been selected as a 2004 United States Postal Service (USPS) Quality Supplier Award winner. Ricoh won the award for its best practices in supply chain management, enabling the Postal Service to more effectively achieve its mission of providing mail service to the American public.

The USPS initiated the Quality Supplier Awards (QSA) Program in 1989 to annually recognize its outstanding postal suppliers. The QSA awards are presented by the Postmaster General to publicly recognize suppliers who have truly made significant contributions towards helping the Postal Service benefit from supply chain management best practices and improve bottom-line and performance results.

Since August 2002, Ricoh has worked directly with the USPS’ Office Products and Utilities Category Management Center in Windsor, CT, providing state-of-the art digital copiers. Receiving in excess of 150 orders a month from the USPS, Ricoh has a proactive process in place to ensure that each order flows smoothly and is delivered on time. Ricoh relies on its tracking system to monitor each order closely, entering the information into a database as soon as Ricoh receives it and tracking the copier until it reaches its final destination. Additionally, Ricoh provides training upon delivery to ensure USPS workers are satisfied with the installation and that they are able to most effectively utilize Ricoh products.
