Hi.
Can anyone help me, i need some competitive info about Canon ir3320i (compared with Aficio 2035)
Is there any difference in the way they handle LDAP information?
Is it possible to use LDAP information when faxing from 2035?
My customer is impressed by the way Canon uses MS Exchange adressbook when faxing. Also the colr display appears to be an advantage...

I'm not a LDAP expert, but you can import address books from exchange servers etc into the Canon. Pretty cool as far as a time saver. You can have 10 different address books in the machine. One can be just email addresses if you want, one faxes, etc. Also, something y'all need to know about the new Canon 22's & 33's. These are the 2220N or 2220i; and the 3320N or 3320i. The base unit "the N" comes standard with print and twain scanning. No standalone 2220. That is why there is still the 2200, 2800, & 3300 out there. The "i" versions come with print and "Push" scanning (like the Ricoh's) Same with the 3320 series. If you want to make a 2220N or 3320N or 2200 or 3300 have "Push" scanning after you have bought the machine, the only way is by adding eCopy. Big expense. The 2800 (if equipped with printing & scanning) can only scan with "Pull" scanning,(unless eCopy is purchased) no "i" version. Advantage for Ricoh is that we have a 27 with all features (Push scanning). If you want a Canon, you either get a 22cpm or 33cpm. I'll check into the LDAP question for you. Hope the rest of this info helps. One more thing. the Canon's are a pain to try and setup at the panel. However, their Remot User Interface (web browser setup) is great. Easy to use and everything can be set up there. I mean everything! There is no reason to touch the machine except to use it (and put in the initial IP address so you can access it). I think the Ricoh Web Browser is a little more difficult to use, but not much.

Also, while I still prefer the Ricoh's, I don't think you will beat the Canon unless you are less expensive. You just get a little more "Features" on the new "i" versions than on the current Ricoh's. Color display panel for one is really nice. Again, these are not big differences, but it's stuff the customer will like. So in short, you need to make sure you can beat their price. If it's Ikon selling the Canon, that shouldn't be hard. (no offense is meant to the Ikon people on this site, you don't control your base pricing)

Actually I'm working on the Danish market as a Ricoh Dealer, so my main competitor are IKON, at least when we're talking Ricoh.
I agree with you, Ted; the color display is cool and it seems as if the Canon is much easier to set up and use. And the integration with Exchange is much more extensive.
I've tried to beat the Canon on specs: For example: It only uses 80 gram/sq m from the trays; I think this is a disadvantage. One could compare this with driving a car at top speed at all time;-)
I think that the fax issue is solved by Canon with a third party software of some sort. I'm checking up on that. 'Till now my only solution to using exchange data when faxing is to use the "Send To Fax" function in MS programs, word ect. But I dont think it will work with Ricohs M fax driver...

Btw this is the first time I use this forum and all I can say so far is: I'm impressed!!
