Pete just called me and spoke about this. Finally we will have our bookletmaker for the CMF and the AP versions!!!!!!!! Watch out Canon!

Plus rumor has it, we will have our 50PPM color printer sometime in 04. Rumor also has it that the system will be of graphic quality. Well that means 4 BIT color to me.

Pete, can you clarify these in some more depth?

Greg:

Thanx, I will make the comment.

Lets see, Ricoh Dealers, RBS, Savin, Savin Dealers, Lanier, Lanier Dealers, IBM and now Toshiba.

When the competition is down, do you lend them a hand to get back in the ring? Do you offer them technology that they don't have?

I for one think not! If Ricoh is doing this just to get thier hands on a decent graphics color device they are making a mistake.

I have given up in the color grahics arena (except where a customer is open to the AP3850C). I believe the graphics color copier/printer should be laid to rest with Ricoh and they should continue their focus on corp color and emerging technologies.

As far as our 90 and 105, do we really need more competition on the high end? Does Ricoh really need the consumable business that bad?

I heard we will have 2 new BW and color machines 1st qtr. They will be based on a" copier version of the CL7000 engine"(not the 1224/32) but have some new features and ACS(finally).

Also heard we will have a 35ppm color and BW printer (no copier????) sometime around March. I was told the CL 7000 series will be repositioned.
Jayson has it right, we will have a 50ppm copier/printer from Toshiba and a new 32 and 28 ppm copier/printer (ricoh OEM) with saddle stitcher.

Rumor has it Ricoh is going to drop the 1224 and 1232 from the line up as soon as inventory has been depleted. This is due to the excessive cycling of the equipment (there is no fix).
Ricoh is going to relabel the Toshiba 31 ppm color for our graphics color system, PERIOD. It is going to be the new 31 which will replace their current 30 ppm color system with improvements. And the new 2232 2238 are coming and will address the calibration problem on the 1224 1232, which occurs every 50 copies/prints. Additionally, they will provide network connectivity like the 2022 2027 which does not require scanrouter. This will give us seg 3 color. I also heard a rumor that we may see a seg 4 business color system by year end(OOOps!)
Greg:

The new 2232 and he 2238, are actually improvements to the CL7000 and that engine. The only answer Ricoh has for cycling problem for the 1224 and 1232 is the discontinuation of the product once stock has been depleted (this is the reason there are extra spiffs for the 1224/32 in the states).

List for the 2232 is $14.5K and the list for the 38 is $16.5K for these systems.

Does anyone know how many of the 1224 and 1232 are available. I still think the 1224 and 1232 is a great box when placed correctly. meaning a user who does not print more than 40 color pages at a time and does not color print nor color copy more than 2,500 pages a month!
