I have a situtation where I have to use GEM/GSA pricing. My customer has a previous copier lease that has an existing buyout. He stated that if I can write the lease for the new copier and include the buy out of his old copier, he will do business with me. Example:

GEM Price of system 14,500

Buyout old lease 12,500

Total 27,000

Can I put this thru GEM, or get it thru the leasing companies? Is there something I am missing. Do GEM have a special plan for buyouts?

Please help!!!!!

Is this an RMAP Deal? Are you using the GSA/GEM lease table (LTOP) or are you going through RMAP Leasing? You can use the GSA/GEM Pricing and put it through RMAP Leasing using the 36 and 48 month No Interest Lease Rates for the machine. The Buyout would be at the $1.00 purchase option lese rates. It can be done. I do it all the time. Let me know.

We use GEM pricing anytime we can (and then some) but don't use RMAP for
anything. Need to watch out for property taxes though. Clune Equipment
Leasing is the only one I know of that doesn't charge anybody property taxes
(or Documentation Fees or insurance or compete with you for the customer at
lease end...)
I'll provide more info if people are interested.

We just had a big meeting with Ricoh Major account manager Joe O'neil on the RMAP/GSA/GEM programs and when and how to use them. If you use gem/gsa pricing you can use the 0% interest lease for 12, 24, 0r 36 months as well as the LTOP $1 purchase. You must use the RMAP lease and Credit approval. The leasing is run through DLL.

You should also be aware that Ricoh will eat "property tax" not sales tax on any RMAP deal.

Also the AP3800,AP3200,and AP206 are on the GSA contract. Unfortunately, what they handed out today was hard copy only. I'll try and get an electronic file to post on the website.

You need to better clarify your question. I'll answer it based on how I understand it. You can use GEM price as a guideline and sell it on your docs. That keeps rmap out of it. In other words, mark-up your cost to reflect the GEM price. Also, remember that rmap puts out a GEM/GSA Promo Price. Ultimately, if going through rmap is the difference between getting the deal or not, you just might want to use rmap.

That would depend on two factors: a) Your dealers cost on equipment (your LDC); b) Whether it's a dmap/tap customer. Depending on the level of priicing that you have, you can come pretty close to gem pricing, and putting it on your own docs.

The last option would be the rmap route, which I realize you're trying to avoid.

"Berto"

Thanx for the info, here's what happened. I had to quote GEM because of competition (other ricoh dealers). The customer then asked if I could roll his old lease with the equipment lease from GEM. Being that I am a novice with GEM, I said absolutley! Hence my first problem.

But here's what I'm going to do. We are going to install the aficio 1045P, and draw up a GEM order (check with order), we will do a dealer buyback and then finance the copier through a leasing company. Hence we give the customer a check to give to GEM Ricoh, and the leasing company has funded enough for the cash sale and the buy out of the other lease! Whew!
I have one question about this process. When the customer sends the check to Ricoh for the purchase, (and I know the money came from the leasing company that funded the lease), what about the sales tax to Ricoh. Or, do you add the sales tax into the lease and get it funded along with the machine? But then, wouldn't the customer be paying for sales tax twice. Once in the funded amount of the lease, and then each month on the lease amount? (which had the original sales tax built into it) Inquiring minds want to know!
