Managed cloud services provider Rackspace Inc. is offering three new “Service Blocks” for Amazon Web Services Inc. customers today, helping them shift more complex workloads to AWS infrastructure.

Rackspace’s Service Blocks are essentially packages of services tailored to address specific cloud use cases. They’re designed for customers that lack the expertise needed to get up and running on AWS themselves, covering things such as architecture, deployment, operational support, cost governance, and complex cloud operations.

More important, they’re flexible too, so customers can choose only the specific services they need and later add or delete services as required. They’re also offered on a consumption-based pricing model, which means customers only pay for the services and resources they actually use.

The new Service Blocks being offered today include a Container Services Journey package, comprised of professional services, managed public cloud and advanced Kubernetes management. The offering is meant to help companies adopt software containers, which are used to host the components of modern applications, for the first time. It involves outlining a container strategy, building containerized apps and then transitioning into ongoing management. read the rest here
