Just curious how many other dealers are having service issues with the MP4000 and MP5000 machines. These machines are only yielding about 1/3rd to half of the life on the developer. They run dirty and toner is also not yielding what it should. Tech support does not have answers. We did get one exec to admit there is a known issue with the toner and developer and they will have something for us "hopefully by May". We have run reports on all of these units in the field and they have lost us a pile of money.

There is indeed a 'known' issue. In fact, one large RFG Dealer (not ComDoc) out of Ohio is in such an uproar (they have many units placed in field) that Ricoh was forced to 'accomodate' this large customer. "Hopefully by May" they will also help the little guys. You should see more posts on this Message Board concerning the issue, no need to take my word for it.
The issue is the toner. It has wax in it and what happens is that it coats the developer roller and causes light and dark copies. The techs have to clean the stuck toner off of the roller and it will work for a time. My understanding is that the new toner will fix the problem. Ricoh has a developer kit that they sent to us to help with a large istall base of MP5000's but it is only a temp fix until the new toner gets here. They want you buy it and it costs $600.00
