Well, I've seen this error a few times. v-tec is right thtat the windows firewall on the plotbase server *can* cause this, but in the 3 instances I've seen it, that hasn't been the problem.

The good news is, you can still print with this error, it is just annoying.

I actually called Ricoh about this problem and they were total idiots about it. They told me they knew exactly what my problem was and would fax me the fix, I got the fax which showed what ports to disable on the firewall. Problem was, I had already diabled the firewall completely. When I called them back and told them, they said I'd need to ENABLE the firewall and then unblock the ports (any network tech is laughing at this point...).

So... you are telling me that the software is trying to communicate to Plotbase on a port and it can't because I need have a firewall enabled that would block the port, but you want me to tell the fiewall *NOT* to block that port? Gee, thanks.

Anyway I tried it and it didn't work. Since then, I've done a dozen 240w installs, occasionally I'll see this error, sometimes I won't.

This isn't an issue as the software WILL NOT let you install unless SNMP is installed and running. You will get an error during install saying SNMP isn't found and the install will quit.
