I need some suggestions. One of our production printing customers wants a color system that will print up to 12 point chromecoat, either from the bypass tray or other trays. The other feature is that it must print up to 12x18 paper.

They have looked at the Savin C7570, but I was told this unit will only print up to a 10 point chromecoat, which they could live with, but they want another option. Speed is not that important as long as it will print on 12 point chromecoat.

Is this an area that Ricoh has a model for, or would I have to refer the customer to another avenue?

Well, first things first, from what I've heard is that some Ricoh dealers will not be allowed to sell this product.

Secondly, the Oki is now where near the price of the C900, and I don't see the Oki as a production device, however the print quality is above average and pretty close to what I've seen from an imagepress.

But then again, how the heck can we compete in P4P market with a MPC6000 and MPC7500 when the booklet finishers can't staple or fold anything above 28lb paper (spec sheet). Thus, to me the MPC6000 and MPC7500 are worthless in the P4P market. There was a comment made to me that the plockmatic bookletmaker will be available soon, thats great news. However you will still need an SR finisher and then the bookletmaker.

At some point in time, Ricoh needs to make a decesion whether they want to play in P4P or not.
Good morning:

You're right, only select dealers will be supported to sell the C900. But the rationale is that Ricoh wants to ensure that dealers have the support, expertise, and wherewithal to respond to customers. So dealers not willing to make the investment in hiring color or application specialists, means they won't be able to respond and resolve customer issues immediately.

As to the finishing limitations, you are absolutely right. It's time to fish or cut bait in regards to P4P.
