PARIS — A leased copier began emitting smoke Friday morning at Paris Elementary School, causing officials to evacuate the building.

No one was hurt and there was no damage to the building. Students were bused to Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, where they ate lunch.

Paris fire Chief Brad Frost said firefighters blew the smoke out of the building after the students left. The copier was wheeled out to the parking lot.

Students returned to school at about 1:15 p.m., Frost said.

School officials said the leasing company that owns the copier picked it up Friday afternoon to determine the cause of the incident.
