On a A4 copier with at least one paper tray set to fit legal size 8.5 x 14" paper, should via service code, the service provider double click legal paper size?

A4 copiers have shorter life consumables than most A3 copiers. Most A4 manufacturers do not inventory every little part.  A4 repair tends to be to replace much more expensive major modules.  A3 manufacturers tend to carry a much broader selection of individual low cost parts found in sub assembly diagrams.

A4 installs often skew towards low volume usage.  A x2 legal click would likely be barely noticeable in the total cost of ownership and in a small way help restore some lost dealer revenue.

Letter 8.5 x 11" size pages would remain a single click.

Terrible idea.  I'd be the competitor who would find you out for that one and you'd instantly lose all credibility forever with the customer when I point it out to them.  Is it worth that risk for the rare Legal size sheet that gets run?

Beyond that if you understand how the A4 manufacturers count yields of consumables you should be charging extra for single prints and single copies and discounting longer runs.  Single copy/print runs hurt your bottom line far more and the occasional Legal page.

The specific application is customer is using an A4 to print color sheet labels on Legal size sheets potentially prematurely fouling the rollers with glue.

I have explained this click charge up front to the customer. Compared to an inkjet color label printer even at $0.20 per page, the ability to print four 4" x 6" is a steal!

I have experienced since COVID-19 customer print volumes have significantly declined with some customers downgrading their A3 to A4 machines.

I do not understand how single clicks cost any more than multi clicks?  A lot of copy/ print jobs are onesies and twosies.  I do not know how a MFP would even count that.
