OKI Data Americas, which markets its products under the OKI® Printing Solutions brand today announces that Tim Brien will join the company as Director of Managed Print Service (MPS) Sales. Brien will be responsible for building the U.S. MPS Sales organization and expanding the company's Total Managed Print business. Tasked with leading a dedicated sales organization, Brien will be focused on the execution of both channel and customer-specific MPS sales strategies.

The company's comprehensive MPS program, Total Managed Print, is designed to help their channel partners provide businesses with a variety of ways to reduce the costs associated with printing. Brien's fifteen years of industry experience supports and enriches the company's MPS offerings as demand for such services continues to gain momentum. Providing channel partners with a complete set of tools, programs and infrastructure to manage a customer's print environment, Total Managed Print includes a robust methodology to help better understand a business' true printing needs and identify potential savings and continuous improvement opportunities in order to increase long-term productivity.

Before assuming this position, Brien was the Vice President of Global OEM programs at PrintFleet since 2003. There he was responsible for building a sales team and creating back-end procedures for the company's go-to market MPS strategy in the BTA dealer and VAR channels. Successfully implementing sales programs in North America, Australia, Asia and Europe, Brien surpassed every MPS target. Prior to his position at PrintFleet, Brien was an Account Executive at Ricoh Canada, Inc., where he built custom infrastructure solutions while dramatically increasing Ricoh's customer base.

"MPS continues to be a strong area of focus for us and the addition of Tim Brien aligns with our growth strategy. We look forward to incorporating his ideas and experience into our MPS infrastructure to strengthen and reinforce our commitment to the market," said Greg Van Acker, Vice President of US Sales for OKI Data Americas. "Brien brings exceptional technical expertise and industry knowledge that surpassed our expectations. We are thrilled to have him join OKI Data Americas."

"At a time when MPS is at the forefront of expansion, I am pleased to expand upon my experience by joining one of the leading print manufacturers who provides a comprehensive MPS offering," said Tim Brien.

Brien has a Business Administration/Marketing and Computer Science degree from Algonquin College in Ontario Canada.

If dealers position themselves correctly in the SMB market and stay within the realm of what is realistic for them to be able to handle, I do not think the direct MPS movement poses much threat. It is only when the dealer starts trying to move into the Fortune 1000, Enterprise accounts, etc. that the direct ops pose a threat.

On a side note, if Brien is the guy leading the MPS movement for Oki, I don't think there's too much to worry about. He used to work for Print Fleet, and when he tried to sell it to my company, he absolutely over promised and under delivered in terms of its capabilities. That type of behavior will backfire bigtime in large MPS deals that require some sort of client cancellation option if expectations are not met.
