Venlo, The Netherlands, 5 October 2009 — Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced three new office color copier systems that complete the revamping of its office color multifunctional line. The new Océ VarioLink® systems — with color speeds of 22 to 36 ppm — offer copying, printing, scanning, faxing and finishing. They are designed to fit smoothly into office workflows so that users can quickly print documents and then get back to core tasks. In addition to traditional office document production, the Océ VarioLink color line allows users to print from USBs, mobile phones and web browsers.

Part of a completely new series
Océ began upgrading its color multifunctionals in March 2009, when the Océ CS240 was replaced with the Océ VarioLink 5522c and the Océ CS250 with the Océ VarioLink 6522c. A third new system was launched in September. These plus the three systems currently being launched constitute an entire new line of office color multifunctionals equipped with the latest technologies and functionality.

Fitting the way office users print today
“Before designing the new line, we collected customer feedback,” says Rächel Geurts-Achouak, International Product Manager for the Océ VarioLink color machines. “The systems’ improved environmental soundness is one direct response to customer wishes.

“We also observed that people use the office differently. They travel constantly so are in and out of the office. These mobile office workers need to be able to print on the run. So we added a web browser from which they can download and print emails and attachments. Or quickly print their airline tickets.

“Adding features is easy. We wanted to add functionality that would help employees to do their work better.”

Color to enhance office documents
Color has become increasingly important in office printing. Research indicates that color adds to document readability and impact. Other studies have determined that readers retain information found in color documents longer.

“Black and white is still important,” says Geurts-Achouak. “But more and more customers are asking for color. The Océ VarioLink systems allow these users to explore their color options. The wide range of Océ VarioLink color multifunctionals make it a natural choice to make the move to color.”

Smooth and effortless support for office tasks
The compact design allows an office to locate an Océ VarioLink system near users. The systems have improved environmental efficiency, including lower ozone, heat and sound emissions than comparable systems on the market, so they are pleasant to work around.

In addition, features like optional Océ PRISMA®enterprise and Océ PRISMAstart software help the system to integrate smoothly into existing office workflows. And state-of-the-art security features protect sensitive company information.

“Our systems feature full functionality in a compact, convenient package,” says Geurts-Achouak. “The systems are highly reliable and easy to use. They are there to serve so that users can produce documents and quickly get back to their core tasks.”

Improved control over resources
Océ has included many ease-of-use and cost control features:

Copy templates
User box technology with thumbnails, job combination and job editing
Touch-and-print support from the print driver
Mobile phone print support
Pull printing over the network
On-board web browser with a customizable user interface.
Long-life parts and consumables and low downtime and service hours also contribute to a low total cost of ownership. Océ sets new standards in office document workflow, combining speed and document control with efficiency and functionality while keeping costs and environmental impact low.
