-- 08/25/09 -- Océ, an international leader in digital document and management delivery, and Equitrac, an award-winning print management solution provider, announced today the availability of a new connecter for the Océ Extended Solutions Platform (ESP) that allows Océ MFPs (Multifunctional Printers) to communicate in real time with Equitrac's advanced print management software for enforcing cost control and security policies.

"This new connector will enable customers using any new Océ device with our new Extended Solutions Platform technology to be more efficient and manage printing costs more easily. By linking our MFPs to Equitrac® software, we have made it easier for customers to track and control usage, recover costs, monitor and secure their MFPs," said Thomas O'Neill, Director Product Operations and Application Lab, Océ North America, Document Printing Systems. "This partnership with an industry leading solution provider allows us to give our customers more value and we believe that this will lead to a long and successful relationship."

Both the Equitrac Office® and Equitrac Express® solutions can be accessed through the operator panels of Océ MFPs that can use the Océ Extended Solutions Platform via an integrated interface on the device control panel. As a result, users are prompted to log in with credentials before being able to use the MFP providing the ability to track and report usage of the MFP and reduce unauthorized use.

The connector is hosted on the Equitrac server and pushed out to licensed MFPs over the network. An administrator can configure the connector to display user limits set on his/her account right on the user panel of the device. Developed by Equitrac for Océ, the connector was tested and certified in Océ North America's Quality and Technology Center in Shelton, Connecticut.

An additional benefit of the connector is the ability to pull prints from the Equitrac server through a Follow-You Printing® interface available through the embedded connector. This new feature benefits users who prefer to retrieve their print jobs from a different multifunction device if the one they intended on using is busy. The feature can also print additional copies without returning to a desktop PC.

"It's critical these days to control print costs by limiting use of more expensive print capabilities such as color printing and copying," said Noel O'Dwyer, Equitrac's Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Alliances. "However, enforcing such policies is difficult at best without any mechanism for user authentication at MFP devices. Connecting our print management software solutions with Océ MFPs delivers easier cost control capabilities, tighter security, increased productivity and reduced print waste to our customers."

Both companies are excited to provide this efficient embedded Equitrac solution with Océ MFPs. To order, Océ clients should contact their local sales branch and work with their regional solutions consultants.
